2015 Best Ramen in Manila by Gaku Nakamura

Are you a Ramen Gourmand like me?? If yes, then you’d surely want to check out a Japanese Reviewer’s top ramen picks here in the Metro.

Gaku Nakamura is a self-styled Japanese Ramen Consultant living in Manila. Last year, he listed his top 10 ramen with  Ramen Nagi  topping the list. But with a number of new and authentic restaurants popping up, here is some of Gaku-san’s top ramen for 2015!

Would your ramen shop make the list?

#5  Mendokoro Ramenba

MUST TRY: Shoyu Tonkatsu

Gaku says: “Mendokoro has tonkotsu-based ramen with chashu. The restaurant looks just like a Japanese-style kitchen and it reminds me of a good ramen restaurant in Japan, Afuri. The taste of the broth and chasu is very nice.”

#4  Mitsuyado Seimen

MUST TRY: Cheese Tsukemen

Gaku says: “Tsukemen soup is yuzu flavor and the noodles are thick. I have never thought that cheese can fit wih Tsukemen, but you will be satisfied once you taste it at Mitsuyado!

#3  Ramen Daisho

MUST TRY: Miso Ramen

Gaku says: “The best Miso ramen in Manila! It is located along Shaw Blvd. Although not located in a major mall, lots of people go there just to eat Daisho’s delicious ramen. Not only ramen, but their gyoza are also delicious.”

#2  Ramen Nagi

MUST TRY: Butao Ramen

Gaku says: “Nagi’s tonkotsu-based broth tastes like real Japanese tonkotsu. If you’re a first-time visitor, try Butao. When you’ve eaten half of it, try to add their Fire sauce to change the taste. You can also change the firmness of the ramen and the toppings based on your preference.”

Grand Launch
Salliano’s Restaurant and Bar’s Grand Launch will be on Sept. 19, Saturday. Many guests are invited to perform on their stage including one of the leading bands in the country, UP Dharma Down. Salliano’s had its soft-opening last July 18 and was warmly patronized by the locals of Marikina City.
Salliano’s houses the exceptionally enormous meatballs, the uniquely cooked Paella and one of their specialty desserts, custaroons.

Salliano’s Restaurant and Bar is a modern and casual dining restaurant located in the heart of Marikina City. It is founded by a group of friends who have known and been with each other since Grade 1.

Over the years, their union as friends, in due course, grown into one big family including their spouses and respective families. Gatherings are but normal and certainly sharing and tasting of each other’s specialty dishes and eventually led to the transformation of their love and passion for food to business. Salliano’s stand for togetherness and celebrations. The idea is to bring back the heart and the familiar in comfort dining, as if one is simply enjoying a hearty meal in your parent’s or a favorite uncle’s backyard.

Salliano’s offers a wide range of gastronomic experience, including the Paella which harken back to those memorable family reunions, the consummately humongous and delicious meatballs that remind of fun birthday celebrations with friends and the all-time favorite gourmet BBQs and Sisig that bring back unforgettable moments with barkadas.
The dishes are full of honesty with only one true goal, and that is to serve a hearty meal while you simply celebrate with those special to you. Truly, Salliano’s is about celebration, family and home.

Triple Threat at Trendsetter’s Bazaar

Having a bad day and in need of a sweet fix? Oh boy! I’ve got the perfect solution for you. Behold, my bestie Meggie Gohing’s latest creation, Triple Treat! A simple baking mix up turned into her best selling goodie as of yet. You’ll definitely love this tasty trio in bar, with a layer of moist fudge brownie, butterscotch and s’mores (toasted marshmallows). Mmmm just describing it makes my mouth water for more. Did I mention it also has choco sprinkles and walnuts?? You read that right! Best of all, Baker Belles are only selling them at P35 a piece, and if you buy 3 pieces you’ll need only pay P100. They look like space cookies but I assure you it’s packed with flavor in every bite.
