BDJ Box #illbethere Day 14: Best Beauty Tip from Bestie

When you skimp on sleep, it shows on your face. Tired skin sags, bags, and loses its luster. Medically speaking lack of sleep causes blood vessels to dilate, causing the look of dark circles, and sleepily rubbing your eyes makes it worst. Your skin, and your whole body, goes into repair mode when you sleep. So sleep is essential to keep you healthy and beautiful (both physically and mentally), thus the term “beauty sleep”.

Back in highschool, I used to have difficulty sleeping being an insomniac myself. So back then I used to look like a dishivelled mess with dark eye bags to match. Fortunately, my Bestie shared her fool proof sleeping rituals. She asked me to take a hot bath before I head to bed then if possible listen to white noise or relaxation music. Thankfully they worked! It appears that raising our body temperature late in the evening configures our body to fall into a bedtime facilitating sleep. And listening to white noise or nature sounds like the ocean and forest relaxes you and is soothing for sleep. Avoid listening to loud or soft music with lyrics as this will keep your brain active preventing you from sleeping. Worst is, you might end up waking to a migraine in the morning.

Here are some other tips I found real helpful in catching those Zzzz’s:
1. Sleep in complete darkness
     – Studies show that the tiniest bit of light can disrupt the circadian rhythm (a daily rhythmic activity cycle, based on 24-hour intervals often referred to as the body clock) and pineal gland’s production of melatonin (regulates the sleep–wake cycle by chemically causing drowsiness and lowering the body temperature) and serotonin (can regulate mood, appetite, and sleep.. referred to as the “happy hormones” in the medical society).

2. Read a pleasureable and slow-paced book
     – Avoid reading anything over-stimulating like mystery or suspense novels as this will excite you and entice you to read more preventing you from sleeping.

3. Keep a journal
     – It’s healthy to write your thoughts before bed. Keeping a diary organizes your thoughts and gets them settled in so they won’t be active. (I use my BDJ planner for this)

4. Wear an eyemask
     – Use this to simulate item number 1. This comes real handy to BPO peeps working on graveyard shifts. Wearing an eyemask deceives your body into thinking it’s night time, thus promoting sleep.

That’s it for me! Ü

BDJ Box #illbethere Day 11: Beapots at Home Facial

I don’t really have a beauty routine as I’m usually sooo tamad.. but whenever I’m in my “sipag mode”, I take about 4 steps to pamper my skin..

Meet my Dream Team:

image

Bifesta Cleansing Lotion, Etude House 7 in 1 Wonder Pore Solution, Etude House Happy Teatime Cleansing Foam and Etude House Sleeping Pack

1. First off  I use Bifesta AgeCare Cleansing Lotion (won this thru BDJ Box’s Count Down to Christmas Promo) to remove my make-up for the day. I uber love this Japanese water-based make-up remover as it feels so gentle on the skin. What’s best is it can double as a facial wash and a toner in one swoop, which comes very handy when bea’s in her tamad mode. (I skip this step if I don’t have make-up on)

2. Though Bifesta cleans well but I still like to use Etude House’s Happy Teatime Aloe Tea Cleansing Foam as safety measure and simply because I’m in my sipag mode. 😉 I like using this product due to it’s yummy scent. Quite hard to explain why but its scent has a soothing & calming effect on me which never fails to bring a smile to my face.

3. Next is Etude House’s 7 in 1 Wonder Pore Solution. This product claims to make your pores smaller and less defined with continued use. I’ve almost devoured mine though I don’t see much difference which may be my fault since don’continually use it. (If I haven’t stressed it enough.. bea’s tamaders) Anyway I don’t mind since I got the bottle free from my accumulated Etude House Purchase.

4. Last step would be the Etude House’s Sleep Pack (I got the 7 in 1 pack on 20% off). As the name implies this prodict stays overnight on your face upon application. It doesn’t have the yummy scent like the cleansing foam but it works wonders. I usually wake up with a suppler and firmer skin in the morning.

So there you go, that’s how beapots pamper her skin.

BDJ Box #illbethere Day 08: Signature Look

My no fail go to signature make up look would be my so called “Natural Make-Up” look.

image

My so called "Natural Make-Up Look"

I’m no make-up professional so I’m not sure if I’m doing it right. Anyhow, this is how I usually do it:

1. Apply facial sunscreen/sunblock followed by Maybelline’s pore eraser as make up base.
2. Apply a layer of light to medium coverage BB Cream. (In my case I blend Maybelline’s and ZA’s BB Cream to achieve my skin color tone and for better pliability too)
3. Swipe on a little lip balm.
4. Next is blushies, concentrate application on the apples of the cheeks.
5. Dab on loose powder/pressed powder to seal in water & oil based products. (I’m totally love with Canmake’s Marshmallow Finish Powder)
6. Now, work on the eyes. (I go a lil’ overboard on eyeliner and mascara to make my chinky eyes appear bigger. I only apply eyeliner on my water line focusing on the midpart of my upperlids to the outer corner of my eyes. Same goes for my lower lids except that my eyeliner starts at farther end of the lower lids. For an added pop, I apply a light shimmery eye shadow on the inner corners of my eyes.)
7. Highlight/Define brows
8. Finish off with your fave lippies (I go for pinkish hues)

And that’s it.. usually it takes me about 15-20 mins to finish this look.

How ’bout you, what’s your go to make up look?

BDJ Planner #illbethere Day 11 Challenge: Anything Goes

Here’s a fine idea for a fun night.. Are you ready? Here it goes… How does “Anything Goes” sound?

Yeah! I know it sounds a bit scary and crazy since it involves trying out new things but can be uber loads of fun.

My friends and I loves going on unplanned roadtrips and try out activities and cuisines we haven’t tried.

Here are some of the wonderful things I’ve experienced thru “Whatever Goes Nights”:

image

Bungee Fun, Go-Kart, Papa Jack, TGIFridays, G-Force Hip Hop by Ishii, CBTL & Isip-Bata Day

With the help of “whatever goes night” I’ve learned to momentarily conquer my fear of heights and tried out Bungee Fun @ SM MOA. I was even lucky enough to have done one somersault. We also went go-karting which was exhiliratingly fun, despite me constantly crashing on the hay stacks. Then during one of our night outs, we have the pleasure of getting acquainted with Love Radio’s very own Papa Jack and that’s by simply trying out a new cafe. At times we still go back to something comfortable like TGIFridays but we do try out a mixture of new & familiar cuisines. We don’t mind going the distance for a nice ambience and it paid off as we found a new Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf branch we absolutely love. We even thought of an “Isip-Bata Day” wherein us adult can do anything childish for a whole day.

Currently, Im taking dancing classes care of G-Force Dance Center Dancers. I’m a hopeless case but who cares so long as I’m having fun I’m gonna keep dancing. Ü

Sooo.. go on your own “whatever goes night” and have a fun-filled crazy night.

Fave BDJ Box’s Editorial: Lip Exfoliation Trick

Fave BDJ Box’s Editorial: Lip Exfoliation Trick

The bdjbox.com’s Editorial is a great site for those easy beauty tips and tricks from BDJ Box’s own Beauty Ministry. They cater from beauty tools suggestions, to make-up tricks and even down to nitty-gritty hair care advices.

Among all their amazing editorials, Barbi Chan’s Lip Exfoliation Trick would be my ultimate fave. It’s a short video on how to achieve those smooth lippies without breaking the bank. Who would have thought that a simple office supply can double as a beauty tool. I’ve tried it myself, the process is quite primitive but as unconventional as it can be, it works! I’ve noticed that after following the trick, my lipstick now glides ohh soo smoothly on my used-to-be uber dry lips.
